PROGRAM / BIG BANG Enschede 2018
7 April 2018 - 8 April 2018
The Music Rooms are an inescapable and legendary element of BIG BANG festival. Every time, this musical voyage of discovery, that transports you into secret rooms and the forgotten nooks and crannies of the festival, is synonymous with exceptional surprises. Behind the doors of the Music Rooms, the broom cupboards, the lofts and the cellars, the classrooms or rehearsal rooms, there await three fantastic mini-concerts:
- The young and talented pianist Thomas Eeckhout takes on his favourite composer, Claude Debussy.
- MADE IN EL KWAKKABA by Alec De Bruyn and Silke Melis has come into being thanks to donated toys: children go in search of forgotten toys. In this way, each lost Furby, abandoned teddybear, walkman with a missing battery can bring a sparkle to the eye of another child rather than meeting its end in the rubbish bin.
- jongNBEoost is one of the six young talent-ensembles of the Nederlands Blazers Ensemble (NBE. The ensemble consists of ten advanced amateurs or starting conservatory students between 15 and 20 years old from the region Oost-Nederland. These young musicians are coached by Alexander Verbeek, trombonist at the NBE. Together they work in about 4 rehearsals to 2 to 3 concerts, both with the NBE and concerts 'in the neighborhood'.
During the Big Bang Festival, jongNBEoost will play a wide repertoire from classical masterpieces to adventurous, contemporary (pop)music.
