Børnekulturhus Ama’r

Børnekulturhus Ama’r is a municipal cultural center. We are dedicated to creating meaningful encounters between children and artists from different art forms and genres. We believe that in art children can find a third place to experience and learn many things; a craft, a way of expressing oneself, something about the world, about oneself, or maybe about others. In the morning hours we run projects for schools and daycare institutions, in the afternoons the house is filled with the children who attend their weekly art classes and on weekends and holidays, we create festivals, workshops, concerts and theatre for children and their families.

About the venue

Børnekulturhus Ama’r has existed since 1994. First in a shack on Øresundsvej, later in borrowed premises in the local community center, and since 2013 in our very own award-winning children's cultural center designed by famous Danish Architect Dorthe Mandrup. The house is inspired by workshops with the local kids which can be seen in the quirky and colourful house, in the numerous little rooms and activities in unusual spaces and in the general see-through-ness between the different rooms. Of course the indoor climbing wall that fills the foyer also stems from the workshops.
