The Fantastic Cinema by Segundo de Chomón brings back to us the work by this pioneer of film making in the early 20th century. Segundo de Chomón created special effects and techniques which are commonly used today, such as travelling, and is specially renowned for his introducing magic and fantasy in film making. Montjuïc offers a delightful matinee made of unreleased musical pieces, in an intimate show full of timbres with a wide variety of instruments —violoncello, clarinet, mandolin, melodicas, guitars, and metallophones as tools that help create an atmosphere very similar to that of early cinema, when silent films were accompanied by live music.
