Karl James Pestka is an American-Icelandic composer and performer who is deeply involved with electronic music education. As a violinist and violist he has worked with Daði Freyr, Amiina, Hjaltalín, Heiðrik, Árstíðir, Írafár, and Ólafur Arnalds, and has written string arrangements for Kaleo, Dikta, Our Lives and Barði Jóhannsson. For the last 10 years Karl has also collaborated with City of Reykjavik schools and the City Library to create spaces for kids to receive rock band coaching and to experiment with a variety of electronic music instruments. Karl currently manages the Reykjavik City Libary Makerspace, a free space for all ages to access and experiment with industry-standard music software and other creative technology.
