Nomad

The Ark are delighted to present our very first Nomad musical performance as part of Big Bang Festival 2019.

The idea behind Nomad is a simple one. A professional musician creates a musical performance or concert together with a group of children or young people. The children’s musical talents and cultural influences merge with those of the musician.

For this year’s Nomad, award-winning composer John Barber of the Aurora Orchestra (UK) will work with pupils from St. Christopher’s National School on Haddington Road. Working collaboratively with people of all ages and abilities to make high quality and rewarding work is central to John's musical life. During this project, John will work with the children to explore a range of musical ideas and devise a short music performance which will be a unique expression of their personalities and musical imaginations.

In this special, one-off free event, the pupils will perform their pieces on The Ark stage with accompaniment from John Barber (lead musician and piano), and joined by two Aurora Orchestra players Ruth Nelson (viola) and Rupert Whitehead (trombone).
